Writing a Better Resume - Consider Your Age, Experience and Other Qualifications
Writing a Better Resume - Consider Your Age, Experience and Other QualificationsWriting a better resume is not only about the format, or the content of the application. There are so many factors to consider, and one should go over these before writing the resume. For example, if you have applied for several jobs in the past few months, then that makes the next step a bit more difficult. For instance, if you are applying for a job as a secretary, but have never been a secretary before, then the manager is going to be very hesitant to hire someone who has never held such a position. The applicant may have a great skill set, but it may not suit the new job opening. On the other hand, if the applicant has already had several interviews and successfully landed the job, then the manager is going to want to see proof of previous experience in that position. This means that if they are not even sure what a secretary does, then they will probably make that particular qualification a main qualif ication in your resume. The same applies to any recent interviews that you may have attended. If you can show evidence of previous work experience that matches the position you are applying for, then you should do so. Sometimes people are asked to provide written references, and these should be mentioned in your application.Another key factor is age. You should always look at the minimum qualifications that are required for the job you are applying for. For instance, if you are applying for a position as a receptionist, then the minimum age requirements would be twenty-one years old.Age also applies to previous employment. If you have previously worked as a receptionist, then it is unlikely that the company you are applying for requires you to have held this position before. Likewise, if you have previous work experience as a clerk, then you should always mention this on your resume. The reason for this is that previous work experience tends to give the best chance of being successful when applying for a job. In some cases, the person may not know that they can work in a certain department, but if they have performed a number of jobs, then they should mention this on their resume. Finally, remember that experience is an important factor in determining how much experience an applicant has in a given job. It is extremely unlikely that you will land a new job without any previous work experience, so it is important to include this in your resume.
